Artist Talk | Allie McGhee: Recent Works
EXPO Chicago, Booth 236
April 7 – 8, 4pm
Please join Harper’s at EXPO Chicago, Booth 236, for an informal artist talk with Detroit-based artist Allie McGhee at 4pm on Thursday, April 7 and Friday, April 8. McGhee will give a short presentation about his paintings on view, then engage the audience in dialog.
A pillar of the Detroit art community since the 1960s, Allie McGhee is known for his lyrical, material-driven works rendered in swirling constellations of industrial paint and found media. Inspired by cosmology, African symbolism, and the rhythms of free jazz, his work explores the inherent tensions between spontaneity and premeditation, intention, and accident. McGhee is represented by Harper’s and will present his first solo exhibition with the gallery in September 2022.
